Built for agencies

The changes that cost money and nobody sees.

Mawnitor watches an agency’s client sites, Shopify and WordPress, for the changes that cost money and nobody sees. It reads sites and never writes to them.

The Mawnitor dashboard. Needs attention lists Northside Retail with 9 things missing from the live site, and Harrow and Vale with 4 files edited directly during Autumn Sale. Not monitored lists Northside Trade, paused.

One day of looking

Every site, every day, three ways.

A pulse every 15 minutes. A walk every hour. A sweep every day. During a sale period the walk runs every fifteen minutes.

What it watches

Three things it watches on every site

Shopify or WordPress, these three are always covered. Each says what changed, in plain words, with how it knows.

01

The theme

Which theme is live and every file in it. When a file changes, a diff of what changed and when it was noticed. Before a new theme goes live, a report of what the old one had that the new one still needs.

How it knows

It reads the theme files and compares them with the last time it looked.

02

What Google sees

Search Console and Merchant Center, held against the site. Every address Google sends visitors to, fetched once and checked. Every product Google Shopping has turned down, with the reason, so it can be fixed in the feed.

How it knows

It reads the Google account you connect and the pages Google points to.

03

Email records

Each sending domain’s MX, SPF, DMARC and DKIM records, read once a day, so order confirmations keep landing in the inbox.

How it knows

It reads the records from public DNS. Nothing is sent to test them.

Ten examples

What you can catch

Ten examples, each based on a real issue we have faced. Every one opens in the example workspace, live, with no sign-in.

01An app covered two buttons

10Email headed for spam

Two sender lists (SPF), one that lets anyone send, and a policy (DMARC) that does nothing. Order confirmations land in spam.

“It reads theme files, and only reads them.”

“It says what changed, between which two looks, and how it knows.”

“A fault is news once. Its going away is recorded as fixed.”

During a sale

A sale period belongs to a client.

The day before it starts, every site they own is read in full and one readiness email goes out.

While it is on, the walk runs every fifteen minutes and the costly changes are emailed at once.

Read-only, by design

What you can count on

  • It reads a site. Themes, files and settings stay exactly as they are.
  • It asks for the smallest access reading needs. On Shopify that is one permission: reading themes.
  • It reads files and compares them. You get what changed, in plain words.
  • When it could not read something, it says so. A gap is reported as a gap.
  • It says what it saw. Every finding comes with how it knows.
